The Nile and Maspero family is a good example of a network that is not consolidated. Our list places 17 services across 7 separate carriers.

Compare that with a network sitting on one transponder, where a single lock gets you everything. Here, finding "the Nile channels" means locking several unrelated carriers, and missing any one of them leaves a gap that looks arbitrary from the outside.

Why a state broadcaster ends up scattered

Capacity is leased over time, not allocated in one go. A broadcaster that has added services across many years accumulates them wherever there was room at the time, and there is rarely a reason to pay to consolidate afterwards. The result is a lineup whose distribution reflects its history rather than any plan.

For the viewer that has one clear consequence: partial results are normal and are not a fault. If you have some of the Nile channels and not others, the missing ones are almost certainly on a carrier you have not locked, rather than off air.

Reading the spread

Two things in the table are worth noticing.

First, HD and SD versions of the same service are separate entries, and they do not always share a carrier. They are independent services in the transport stream, and a broadcaster may place them on different transponders. Finding the SD copy tells you nothing about whether you have found the HD one.

Second, the radio services in this family sit on television carriers, sharing them with video services. They need the dish and follow that carrier's reception exactly.

Getting the whole family in one pass

A per-satellite blind scan is the efficient approach for a scattered network like this one. Entering seven carriers by hand works, but every typed frequency is a chance to mistype a digit, and a blind scan sweeps the band and finds carriers whether or not they are on any list.

The trade-off is time and tidiness: a blind scan takes several minutes and returns everything on the satellite, so you will be sorting through a much longer list afterwards. For filling gaps in a family you already partly have, the table above and a few manual entries is faster.

If a service in this list does not appear on the carrier shown, check the other frequencies in the table before concluding it has gone. Within a family this spread out, a service moving between the network's own carriers is more likely than it disappearing.
