Jordanian Channel Frequencies and the Busiest Carrier in Our List

Our list holds 27 services in this group, across 2 carriers. What makes it interesting is not the spread but the concentration: one of these carriers holds more named services than any other frequency in our entire list.

What a dense carrier actually means

A transponder has a fixed capacity, set by its symbol rate and FEC. How many services fit inside depends entirely on what those services are. A run of radio stations costs a fraction of what an HD video channel costs, so a multiplex packed with audio-only feeds can list dozens of entries while a multiplex of HD channels lists a handful.

That is exactly what is happening here. The dense carrier in this group mixes a few television channels with a long series of regional Quran radio feeds, each serving a different governorate. They are cheap to carry, so there are many of them.

The practical upside is real: one successful lock returns a large part of this group at once. The downside is equally real — when that carrier degrades, all of it goes together.

Why several entries share a name

You will notice repeated names differing only by the region appended to them. These are genuinely separate services carrying separate regional output, not duplicates of one feed. A receiver will store each one, and they will look near-identical in the channel list.

If you only want the national services, this is a case for pruning after the scan rather than trying to scan selectively — you cannot pick individual services out of a multiplex, you take the whole carrier or none of it.

Reception notes for a packed multiplex

A dense carrier is a useful alignment target. More services means more of the transponder's capacity in use, which gives a steadier quality reading than a lightly loaded carrier does. When peaking a dish, pick the busiest frequency in the table rather than an arbitrary one.

It is also the carrier where a marginal install shows up first, for the same reason: there is simply more happening on it. If one frequency in your list breaks up before all the others in bad weather, check whether it is the densest one before assuming there is a fault.

  • All of this group missing, other channels fine: a single carrier is not locking. Re-check the frequency and polarisation.
  • Television channels present, radio feeds absent: some receivers hide audio-only services by default, or file them in a separate radio list. Check that list before rescanning.
  • Fewer services than the table shows: the multiplex contents changed. Blind scan that one frequency to see the current state.
