Oman TV Frequencies: The Whole Lineup on One Robust Carrier

This is the tidiest entry in our whole channel list. All 11 services sit on one carrier — 12130 V at 27500 3/4 — with nothing else mixed in.

One lock, one scan, the entire lineup: television services and radio stations together. There is no second frequency to chase and no partial result to diagnose.

The error correction is the interesting part

This carrier runs 3/4 FEC, not the 5/6 that most of the band uses. Only a handful of carriers in our list do.

FEC is the share of the transmission spent on error correction. At 5/6, one bit in six is overhead. At 3/4, one in four. The heavier ratio means less room for services — and a noticeably better tolerance for a poor signal.

In practice this carrier stays locked through conditions that have already broken the 5/6 carriers around it. If you are testing a marginal install, or peaking a dish in poor weather, this is a good frequency to work with precisely because it is the most forgiving one available.

The flip side is that a robust carrier hides problems. A dish that holds this frequency comfortably may still be badly under-aimed for everything else on the satellite. Never peak on the easiest carrier and assume the rest will follow.

Radio alongside television

Several entries here are audio-only. They cost a fraction of a video service to carry, so adding them to a multiplex the broadcaster already leases is close to free. Two consequences follow. They need the dish rather than an FM aerial, and they inherit this carrier's behaviour exactly — including its unusually good weather tolerance.

Some receivers file audio services in a separate radio list rather than the main channel list. If the television services appeared and the radio ones seem to be missing, check that list before rescanning anything.

If this carrier will not lock

With a single-carrier group the diagnosis is unusually clean, because there is no partial state to interpret:

• Nothing at all from this frequency, rest of the satellite fine: a typed value. Check the frequency digits, then the polarisation, then the symbol rate.
• Locks but quality is low: alignment or margin. Given that this is one of the more robust carriers in the band, a weak reading here suggests the install needs attention generally.
• Was working, now gone: blind scan the surrounding range. A carrier that moves takes its whole lineup with it, which is exactly what makes single-carrier groups vanish all at once.
