Children’s Channel Frequencies and Which Ones Need a Subscription

Our list holds 9 children's services across 6 carriers, and this group has a clearer internal split than most.

Some of these are broadcast in the clear on carriers running the band's ordinary 27500 5/6 configuration. Others sit on the wider 30000 3/4 carriers belonging to a subscription platform. The two halves need different receiver settings and lead to different outcomes.

The split matters before you scan

The wider carriers are the ones people fail to find. On a manual scan you enter the symbol rate yourself, and 27500 entered out of habit will return an empty result on a 30000 carrier that is arriving perfectly. On a blind scan, older tuners sometimes step past wider carriers entirely, producing a scan that reliably finds most of the satellite and misses the same block every time.

So a result where "some children's channels appeared and the rest did not" is usually not about reception at all. It is about which carriers your scan was configured to look for.

And it matters after you scan

The subscription services will lock and store with a healthy quality reading, then show nothing. That is the expected result without a current subscription and matching official equipment — the carrier arrived intact, and decryption is a separate layer that has nothing to do with your dish.

Worth knowing in advance, because a black screen after a successful scan looks exactly like a fault and is not one.

Reading the table as two groups

Rather than reading this list alphabetically, read it by symbol rate:

• 27500 carriers mix children's services into general multiplexes alongside unrelated channels. Many of these are in the clear. One lock brings a lot of unrelated content with it.
• 30000 carriers are all horizontally polarised and belong to a subscription platform. They run 3/4 FEC, which makes them more weather-tolerant than most of the band — they will still be locked after other carriers have dropped out.

HD and SD copies

Where a service appears in both definitions, keep both. They share their carrier's protection, but the HD version carries far more data and therefore shows breakup earlier as margin falls. During bad weather the SD copy stays watchable longer, which for children's programming is usually the difference that matters.

Checklist

• Only some found: check the symbol rate on the missing ones before anything else.
• Every 30000 carrier missing: symbol rate, or a tuner that skips wide carriers on blind scan.
• All horizontal carriers missing: voltage — the LNB is not reaching 18 V.
• Locks, good quality, black screen: encrypted. Not a fault.
